Visitor Guidelines for Kuthumba Ecovillage

If you are visiting Kuthumba, we kindly ask that you respect the following guidelines to help preserve the safety and harmony:

  1. No Pets Allowed for Visitors or Tenants: Guests and tenants are not permitted to bring pets into Kuthumba. The resident animals here know each other, and introducing unfamiliar pets can cause unnecessary tension. This is also a sensitive environment with a range of wildlife that may be unfamiliar, or too exciting, for untrained animals.
  2. Drive Slowly: Children move freely between the properties, so it’s essential to drive very slowly within Kuthumba. Please also reduce your speed when traveling on Forest Hall Road on your way in.
  3. Consider the Impact of your Waste: We strive to live a low-to-minimal impact life here. Give some thought to how you could reduce the amount of waste that you produce, and ask your host about how best to separate your compost, recycling and landfill waste.
  4. Respect the Recycling Centre: Our recycling centre is clearly marked to indicate what goes in each bay. If you’re unsure, place all recyclable items in a clear bag and deposit them in the bays marked "Recycling." Non-recyclable waste should be disposed of in black bags.
  5. Keep Music Levels Low: To maintain the peace of our village, please keep music volume down after 9 PM. Sound travels far here, and we appreciate your consideration.
  6. Be Friendly: When walking around, feel free to greet the neighbours who live here permanently. A friendly gesture goes a long way in building community spirit.
  7. Do Not Feed the Wildlife: Please avoid feeding any wildlife you may encounter, such as bush pigs, monkeys or genet cats. Feeding them disrupts their natural habits and can lead to unwanted interactions.

Thank you for helping us maintain the unique spirit and environment of Kuthumba!
